Date format

What formating do I use to be able to enter 6 or 8 numbers
in a cell and return the correct date? If I put 010103 in
I get 4/10/1900 instead of the expected 01/01/2003. When
we do this we get a date, but an incorrect one. I looked
under special but I could not find one for date. It does
phone and social security number, but not date. Is there a
way to set cells so the keyer just keys numbers and it
fills in the slashes. It is so much faster for them to key
if they do not have to type the slashes. One of our other
major software vendors does this in thier program and they
want to duplicate that.
Thanks

Hi HotDoughnut!

Chip Pearson:

There's a subroutine there that will assist if you are using US date
notation of mmddyy

If you are using ddmmyy, then you can enter your dates in this way and
then use a helper column to parse your entries.
