date format

i am creating a list of my sports cards. Many are numbered (ie. 10/12 or
1/5), however when I enter them in, Excel changes the nubers to a "date
format". It is really annoying, and innacurate, for me to have to type a "0"
before each number. Is there any way to turn this feature off?

You can preformat the range of cells as Text
or
you can prefix your entry with an apostrophe: '10/12

No way to "turn it off".

All you can do is work around it.

You can pre-format the cells as Text or precede the entries with an apostrophe
which will show in the formula bar but not in the cell.
