Date Format

I'm trying to insert a date in Word 2002 [Insert =>Date
and Time]. I want to use a simple "January 6, 2004".
This does not appear to be an available format. It
certainly is available in Word 2000 and many prior
versions.

Is there a solution?

G'Day!
On the "Date and Time" dialog, in the upper RH corner, there
is a "Language" Dropdown.
When "English (U.S.)" is selected, the format you require is available.
When (for me) "English (Australia)" is selected, it's not available.
I think MS may have tried to be a bit TOO smart!

Insert Date as a menu command causes problems. Consider constructing a
custom template that has the date already in it. Press Ctrl-F9 and type:
CreateDate \@ "MMMM d, yyyy"
then press the F9 key. Save your template. When you base a new document on
this template the date the new document is created will be inserted
automatically.

Setting it in the control panel did the trick. The
English (US) was selected for the language but the format
did not appear until I changed the setting in the control
panel.
