Date format

I have some Excel XP spreadsheets which I created on a PC and in which
I have used the Custom Number format dd/mm. When they are used in
Excel on a Macintosh the date displays the other way round and yet the
format is still showing as dd/mm.

Does anyone have any tips on how to resolve this?

I have a hunch that they are switched by coincidence. Check the Date 1904
option in the calculations tab of preferences. Check it if it is not checked
or vice versa to see if the dates correct themselves.

I am sorry to be so basic about this - can you tell me where to find
Preferences? Do I have to do this for each workbook?

Thanks for your help Bob

The Preferences selection is under the Excel menu. Go to the calculations
tab to find the 1904 date preferences. You may or may not have to do this
for each work book. Try it and see if the date is correct after you change
the preference.
