Date formats in Office

I want to use the DMY format in Office.
This should be achieved by setting System Preferences-International-Formats
to the required region.
Still the Office apps keep requesting input in MDY format.

Are you using Tiger ?? I had the same problem and then learnt that
properly setting the system for that was not as trivial as I thought.
I had to go to the International prefpane, re-select the proper region I
was in and from then on re-set all the date/time/number formats I
wanted. Only then did the multiple apps I use (that use these settings)
function properly.
