Date Formatting in Excel

M

MW

Hi, For some reason I can not change the data format in my excel sheets.
Only when I clear the cell, format it for a specific date setting and
retyping, it will be accepted.
What can be the reason ?
Thanks in advance for you help.

I suspect that excel is seeing these dates as text. To test this try this.

Enter a 1 in a blank cell. Copy it. Highlight the 'dates' and select
Edit>Paste special...>Values+multiply.

You should get what look like whole numbers, these are the date's serial
numbers. Now format as dates and all should be well.

If this works and you are getting the data feed from somewhere else then you
should either look to change the format of the feed or run some code after
the feed
