date formatting issues

I am trying to figure out how to keep the month and day
on the same line when it would normally break after the
month and put the day and year on the next line. I don't
mind the year on the next line, but I need to be able to
keep the month and day on the same line. Can anyone help?

To do this in word, you would hit "Control Shift Space."
