DATE-FORMATTING TO DISPLAY CELL CHANGES ONLY

I am in XP-SP2 with XL 2003.

I would like to know when a change is made to any cell on the sheet,
but not every time I open the sheet to consult. It appears that a
recalc is made upon opening.

Anything I can do about that?

One way:

Put this in your worksheet code module (right-click the worksheet tab
and choose View Code:

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
With Range("A1")
Application.EnableEvents = False
.NumberFormat = "dd mmm yyyy hh:mm:ss"
.Value = Now
Application.EnableEvents = True
End With
End Sub
