Date functions in Spanish

Has anyone had experience with implementing language options in Excel 2007?
If so, we would like to know how to configure a worksheet so that the date
functions and formats will return a date in Spanish rather than English. We
are able to properly apply spell checks by setting the language in the
language bar, but are not sure how to designate that certain cells (or a
full worksheet) return Spanish text for date, or other, text formulas?

For spelling: have you experimented with Excel Options | Proofing -
Dictionary Language ...Spanish?
Just a suggestion, I have no idea if it works.

In this 'global economy', maybe MS should make it easier to have dates
(names or days & months) show in any language just by formatting (not by
changing regional setting) - we can have international money symbols so why
not date text?

Thanks, David, that's exactly what we needed! However, I feel a little
embarrassed to have overlooked such an obvious setting. We appreciate your
assistance.

With that said, perhaps you could answer another question. How do we get
the format to capitalze the month or weekday name? In other programs, for
example, using "MMMM" in the format versus "mmmm", would capitalize the
month. Furthermore, "Mmmm" would only capitalize the first letter of the
month (proper caps). Any way to do this in Excel?

Thanks,

Richard

Thank you for the suggestion, Bernard. Meanwhile, David Biddulph provided
us with a very simple solution to this exact problem. Furthermore, the
feature is built into the format rather than the regional language settings,
as I believe you suggested it should be. If you are interested please see
David's reply in this thread.

Thanks,

Richard

I fear that you might have to use a combination of the TEXT and UPPER
functions.
