Date independant project

Belinda

I want to build a project template that is calendar date independent. I want
the project to deal with say hours (Hour 1; Hour 2 etc) but not be tied to a
specific calendar date.
So the start time would be Hour 0; and the finish time, say, Hour 30.
With a number of tasks to be done over the 30 hour period. Can this be done
with MS Project?

The only thing I might add to Trevor's post is you may also use the Adjust
Dates method available on the Analysis toolbar.

You can format the Gantt Chart's timescale to be in Hour1, Hour2 format, but
all projects still have a date and time associated with them.

Belinda,

As the others have said, MP Project is geared toward days. However, (since
it actually tracks everything in minutes then reports it in hours, days,
weeks, months, years) you CAN schedule a project that covers 30 hours (or any
number you want). Just set all the calendars to 24 hours beginning at
midnight and ending at midnight.Make sure to set the hours per week in each
calendar to 720. The task sheet will still show start date and time, but, as
Rod pointed out, you can set the Gantt Chart to show Hour1, Hour 2, etc. I
have done this on a short processing plant turnaround and it worked OK.
