Date insert error - not the full date

When I type the first four letters of a month, the total month appears, and I
press enter. The month is completed, but when I press the space bar the day
and year do not appear as they have in the past. If I type out the entire
month as in September, the day and year will appear and it works nicely.

I am using Vista and the US English version. Obtaining the full date is a
very nice feature and I use it all the time, I would like to have it back.
Thank you. Should I reinstall a component of Vista or is it related to the
date and time setting of the clock?
