"date navigator" small calendars disappear

In Outlook 97 (v 8.04)I have to drag the task pad border
to see the small date navigator monthly calendars, but
next time I re-enter outlook they have gone and I have to
drag the border to bring them into view again.

How can I get Outlook to remember to keep them in view?

Close Outook - then find and delete outcmd.dat. Reopen Outlook and the view
should now stick.
