date problems with mail merge and vista

Hi,

Iam trying to set up a mail merge document. I have completed all the fields
in the spread sheet and everything works fine except for the dates,
In the sreadsheet the dates are set as dd/mm/yyyy
In the mail merge documents come out as mm/dd/yyyy

what can be done to rectify this
