Date Range for Gantt Chart

Attempting to insert a date range of 1/01/1927 through today and Microsoft
Project provides for two formats. It will not allow me to enter data into
project.

Does anyone have a possible solution?

What are you actually trying to do? Clearly you can't be planning a
project for those days so maybe there is an alternative solution.
