Date Sorting 19th Century & Prior

I've got a long and ever expanding list of events in the llives of a large descendent family I am researching. Events are entered to an Excel spreadsheet. New events come in with specific dates all the time. Most events are in the 18th and 19th century. Being able to date sort these events and their details would make further research of these events, and the time between events much easier, but Exel provides only the two 20th century date formatting methods. 18th & 19th century entries are not accepted or "sortable"

Is there an "add on" or after market that will permit entry and sorting of "date cell" with mm/dd/17xx through mm/dd/19xx

With best regards...............Rich J.
