Date & Time question on Status Field

Hello all,

Status Date uses "default end time" of the current project as its default
time; e.g. 02/27/09 17:00 (17:00 is the value on the Default end time box).

Given the above status date with time, what are the date with time figures
for the following ?:
- "spread to at least the day before the status date"
- "midnight on the day before the status date"

Maybe this level of precision is not required for tracking purposes since
MSP will update accordingly as soon as we enter actual values anyway. I have
tried to test the threshold times and it does not seem to work correctly.

I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

Best Regards.

I just tried Project 2003 using a task with 1000 days duration. As such, I
should be on schedule if I can claim 1% complete at the close of business on
day 10., or 0.1% per day.

I set the status date to close of business on day 1 which means I should be
on schedule if I can claim 0.1% complete. Project shows I remain late until
I claim 0.5% which is rounded to 1%. Technically, I am ahead of schedule at
that point. This is rounding withint Project.

I am not too concerned with it, I should not be planning tasks of such long
duration to begin with. Since we requie task durations to be less than 15-20
days (we prefer 5 days), the roundoff is not a problem. 1% of 20 days is 0.2
days or 96 minutes of an 8 hour day. We don't need to be that tight on a 20
day task. On a 1 day task 1% is 4.8 minutes. Do you need to be that tight?
