Date & Time Update Automatically

I have a lot of files from an old application: Greatworks. I saved
them as Word files and then opened them in Word. Everything seemed to
work except all of the inserted dates --and there are a lot of them--
updated to the current date and time, which I don't want.

I've checked and "Update Automaically" is not selected in the date and
time window. I'm just trying to find a way to open these as Word files
without this problem.

I'm running OS 10.2.8 on a Dual 800 G4

I assume in Greatworks you used the program to insert a field that inserted
that day's date? I don't know how fields transfer over from other
applications, but try this:

Select the date and hit shift-F9 to show field codes. You should see { DATE
}. Edit it so it reads { CREATEDATE } and it will show you the date the doc
was originally created.

Although in your case, this is probably going to be the day it was saved as
a word file....hmmm.
