Dates and file conversions

Hello,

Part One:

I am converting multiple ClarisWorks Spreadsheets from the MAC to Excel
2002/XP. Unfortuneately Excel does not recognize this very outdated
spreadsheet format. So far I have resorted to opening each file on the MAC
and 'save as..." selecting Excel 4.0, which is the latest file to convert to
on the menu using a diskette. Then in Excel I combine several single files
(one sheet per month) into multiple tabs in one workbook, renaming the
sheets manually like "Jan 01, Feb 01, etc.". Any ideas on how to do this
faster?

Part Two:

The dates in the old MAC spreadsheets are recognized in Excel as numbers and
as dates. But when I change the format to a date like 12-Mar-02 the year
changes from the entered date (2002) to 1997. And dates that are at the
beginning or end of a month like July 31 come out as August 1. Do you know
why and how to get the correct date?

Thanks for your suggestions!
Corey
