Dates are slow to appear bold

When I open the Outlook 2002 calendar, it takes several seconds for the dates with appointments to appear in bold. I was recently using a slower computer with Office 2000, and the dates would instantly appear in bold when I would click on the calendar. Nothing has changed on the server. Any suggestions?
