Uncheck the Preferences/Calculation/"Use the 1904 date system" checkbox
in your target workbook.

Note: If you already have dates in that workbook you can add or subtract
1462 from a date to change to the correct system.

I tried changing Preferences/Calculation/"Use the 1904 date system" but then my other existing running dates would then change to gibberish. I need to constantly add new dates with value to an existing spreadsheet but the dates will always change to '04.
