Dates prior 1984

I need to create an overview over the historic development of a complex project starting 1918. Project 98 won't let me enter dates
prior 1984.
Is there a fix? Or an Add-on?
If I update to MS Project 2003, will that help?
Does anybody have an idea for a workaround other than doing it manual? Is there another program that lets me do Gantt-Diagrams?

Steve House [Project MVP]

Sorry, the valid date range for Project is 1984 to 2049 and there's no work
around to input dates outside that range. MS Visio can generate Gantt
charts and as I recall it will accept dates as early as 1900.
