Daylight Savings for Arizona

SeDavis

Greeting All!
I know Apple has taken care of this on OS 10.4.6, but has Office? I am
tech support for over 30 Mac stations and all have either Office X or
Office 2004. We are in Arizona where we DO NOT change our clocks. But,
since we are a national company, anything in the calendars need to
sync up.

Has Microsoft addressed this for those of us who do not (not by
choice) follow DST?

Thanks in advance!

This issue was addressed in the Office 11.3.3 update.

Seems there was a preference when you installed the OS to select if you
observed daylight savings time. A quick search of Apple Help shows nothing.

I suggest selecting a different time zone in System Preferences "Date &
Time".

I was too quick to answer. Microsoft has not to my knowledge addressed the
issue of what to do for users that do not follow DST. The update 11.3.3
fixes the time change for Office 2004 users only.

This year there will be problems for users that have older Oses and versions
of Microsoft Office installed. Numerous other large companies like Red Hat,
and Sun also have not offered up solutions AFAIK.

I have just posted an article "Is your Mac ready for Daylight Savings Time?"

There are links to some geeky solutions listed.

After doing the research for the article I can say it's a sorry state of
affairs that this issue cannot be resolved for all users.

There was in the Classic OS; it must have been removed somewhere along the
line.

If you are using Entourage 2004, I would think should work properly if your
events are in the "Arizona" time zone and you have that time zone set as the
default time zone for new events in Entourage > Preferences / General
Preferences / Calendar. After all, that's a separate entry created
specifically for that situation. Similarly, make sure "Phoenix" is set as
the closest city in the "Time Zone" tab of "Date & Time Preferences", as
suggested by Diane.
