DB Problems using A2000 DB

I am working on an A2000 DB file with A2003 in an Win XP environment. By the
way, I have not yet converted the file to A2003 because not all of my users
are running Office 2003. Anyway, all has been fine until today when I
attempted to use the app on a machine running Win 2K / A2000.

It does not work right. I get the dreaded DB open by another user... error
sometimes, forms won't close sometimes, invalid use of null where there is no
issue, fields with functions that did display values have the #Error, and
subforms not activating. The app is on a local drive with Office 2K on the
local machine.

I've checked MS Knowledgebase and have found articles referencing Office 2K
SP-3 and latest SP for Windows 2K.

I thought I would see if anyone else has experienced this. I have not yet
checked if latest SPs have been installed and it will be kind of a problem
installing Office 2003 (licensing).

Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Clint Herman

Is everyone opening the same file in the same location? That's asking for
major data corruption, and 'open by another user' errors.

Try splitting the database into Front End / Back End, with the Back End
tables (in Access 2000) in a common location, and the Front End forms,
reports, queries and modules on each user's PC.

It is installed on the local drive, so my user is the only one that has
access to this particular copy. The live version is split, with all users
having their own front end. This is definitely not a multiuser issue. I think
it has something to do with network settings (Windows 2K) or Office 2K
settings.

Thanks for the thought! I learned the hard way with A2000 to not have
multiple users in the same front end! :)
