DDE and KB873372 sideeffects in Excel.exe

Hi,

Can anybody inform me of known sideeffects of the path described in
KB873372? It seems to have a negative impact on DDE-functionality towards
Excel.exe

It is a quite serious (and urgent) issue for us - and please don't give me
replies suggesting replacing the DDE-functionality. This process has already
been started, but will not be completed within a year - and we have the
problem today.
