About six weeks ago, I upgraded 45 desktops from Office XP Pro to Office
2003 Pro SP1. All desktops run Windows XP SP2. We are on a Windows 2003
network and use roaming profiles.
Since then two users have complained about a problem with their toolbars.
One of the users reports the problem recurring almost weekly.
What happens is the standard toolbar takes up almost the entire screen
width. The formatting toolbar (on the same row) has no buttons, just a
handle and a drop-down for selecting hidden buttons. Hidden buttons can be
selected, and they come back on the screen normally. Word can be closed and
reopened and the newly personalized toolbars are remembered. Windows can be
shut down and restarted. But a week or two later, the user reports that it
has happened again. Personalized menus are not affected.
It appears to be forgetting the usage data for just the formatting toolbar.
Or somehow "prioritizing" all of the existing usage data for the standard
toolbar above the formatting toolbar. The user reports no unusual shutdowns
of Word or Windows or any other problems (and this user does report
everything).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
