Deactivating a project but keeping for archive

What is the correct way to deactivate a project so that project server no
longer sends email reminders about that project but still keeps the project
data available for review?

Hi barton,

Project Server as such has no archive. The way you can handle it is to
create an outline code by the name of Project Status. This outline code can
have different values like:
in progress
postponed
cancelled
and closed.

You can then generate filters on your Project Center views filtering all
project with the outline code value "closed". This would mean that no user
could see closed projects anymore in PWA. Additionally you could also
generate a view called "Closed" Projects which would contain all closed
projects.
Please note, there is one downside to this. When you open Project
Professional, you will still see the "closed" projects in the open dialop
Window, but you can group by outline codes and could disregard the closed
Projects.
I hope this helps
Marc

Dear Gary,

This is very helpful - the setting of the booking value for all resources as
proposed while the project and all tasks are marked as complete makes sense -
I assume this has the effect of stopping email notifications related to any
historic assignments to which a resource is bound?

Regards,

Barton

Yes if your data integrity is intact. All bets are off if you've got
orphaned assignment records.

Hi Gary, I tried the link you provided but was unable to access the webpage.
It requires a Username and Password. Can you help me?

PS. I own both of your books, but couldn't find help there.
