Dead Word document

Jon

When I open a Word 2002 document, whether a new one or an
existing one, the document is not "live". What I mean is
that there is no cursor blinking, I can't scroll, and I
can't print. Once I click in the document everything is
fine, but I would like it to open live like it did in all
previous versions of Word. How do I change some setting
to accomplish this?

Hi Jon,

Is it possible that you are clicking too many times when you open a
document and are deactivating the document window?

For example if you double-click a document on the Desktop to open it but
then click again the focus may move to the Desktop instead of the document
window. So when the document opens it opens in an inactive window.

Check your title bar the next time this happens and see if it is active or
inactive.
