deadline indicator warning unreliable?

Hi there,
I'm in MS Project 2003 and use the Task Usage view 95% of the time. I set
deadlines on milestones and depend on the deadline indicator red exclamation
point to alert me if I'm going to miss a deadline. But the indicator does not
always appear even when the finish date and deadline date don't match.

Any ideas why this might be? It's a crucial buy-in point for my account
managers.

Thanks!

The only time I've ever seen the red exclamation indicator NOT appear when
the finish date is later than the deadline date is when the indicator column
is missing from the table altogether. Can you give an example where it's
not working for you?

Hi,

Where you frighten me a bit is when you say "don't match"
When the finish is before the deadline, they don't exactly match but the
warning sign isn't supposed to appear, it only is when finish is after the
deadline.

Ok, I had swapped my column order in two different plans, so when I read the
deadline to have been missed, we're actually early.

Thanks for taking the time to respond! I feel foolish :)

Don't do that!!!!!!!! We all make silly mistakes and it all helps with the
Learning process :) Thanks for the feedback.
