Deadline

Project contains a deadline field. Entering a date in the deadline field
will cause a red diamond to appear in the indicators column if [Finish] is
later than [Deadline]. Additionally, tasks that have missed their deadlines
contain negative total slack.

Your question may be more general, "Warning: This task is approaching its
completion date." Questions and conditions like that may be answered using
the atuofilter (there are other methods too). What I do is AutoFilter the
finish date, say [Finish]<December 25th and then a second AutoFilter on
%Complete<100. Now I know all tasks that have not yet completed that should
be complete by Christmas.

You can also set a formula to a flag field. For instance, you could use a
formula to calculate the difference between "today" and [Finish]. If that
value is less than a certain number of days (say 5) then set the flag to
"yes." In cases like this, I often use a graphic indicator on the flag
instead of yes/no because it is easier to read.

To make it a little more complicated, consider tasks that would finish
"soon" and are truly on schedule or are say 99% complete... you probably
would not want a deadline or warning on those. That would complicate your
formula.

Post back if you had something different in mind.

Thank you, Jim!

I tried the autofilter method. It works for date/finish date.
But %Complete<100 -- I have been unable to. Do I create field first or it is
already there somewhere within the autofilter.
This would be very helpful.

Thanks again,
Dip

Hello,

What is the easiest way to put a deadline (warning) in my tasks?

Thanks,
