Dealing with Managed Time Periods

My company wants to close past reporting periods and we will work with
Managed time periods option.
But:
1) How does a user learn that RM rejects a timesheet ???
2) Is it really necessary that RM says yes? Could we just omit this step,
keeping still managing time periods?
3) WHat happens if the order user>RM>PM is changed and people work in the
order user>PM>RM?
4) Even when I do everything according to the book my users on their Home
pages have a number of “Your timesheet has not been submitted for the periodâ€
messages.
5) I don't know how to anable PMs to see "show timesheet status" option when
they look through the list of submitted updates.

(we have PrServer 2003, PrProf 2003+SP2)

I'd really appreciate any help.

As far as my understanding is there...PM shud be always the last approver of
timesheet as he has to in-corporate thefinal changes in Project Plan. So that
flow is not going to work with project Server.

Also Myself also is not able to find the feature "Show timesheet status"
anywhere in Updates ?

Strange ....

When RM rejects a timesheet PM will see a star next to the hrs i.e 8 hrs *

PM can accept the task even if RM has rejected it or not approved it..Also
it is possible to remove RM totally from the cycle by reducing RM
permissions..

user > PM > RM doesnot make much sense..as just after PM accepts the
timesheet changes are reflected in the project plan...

4 ) I have to look into this before answering

5) You need to give PM global permission of "Timesheet Approval" if "Show
task status" option is not visible...

I know that a PM can see red 8*. But I wanted to know how does a user – the
person that submits the update – learn when RM rejects his hours???

And a question about what PM can see. According to my knowledge PM can see
(e.g.) red 8* BOTH when a timesheet still waits for RM to be approved and
when RM has rejected the timesheet. But PM never knows what case it is with a
submitted data (unless it’s accepted, then it is clear).
How a PM could distinguish the two situations? Is there a special status for
this? How/where to find it and incorporate to a view?

Great thanks for number 5) !
Waiting impatiently for any ideas for number 4).
