Decimal durations and decimal entries

Hi,

when after some days I open the project in project professional and check
then the duration and start and finish dates are all changed .

and when I execute a report through project professional I see that many
users entries are showing in decimal .although the users has entered whole
value why it is happen and the duration in project of all tasks are also
changed in decimal .
what is the problem is that.
how I can solve it .

Micheal,

I'm not sure if this is your problem...but I've seen this happen
before. Consider the following example:
-- Fixed Duration task
-- Duration = 10 days
-- One resource at 100%
-- Work = 80 hr

Now, let's say that after the third day Actual Work = 35 hr and
Remaining Work = 45 hr (your resource was putting in some serious
overtime). Project will attempt to spread the remaining 45 hr across
your fixed duration (of which you have 7 days remaining). 45/7 = 6.43
hr for the remaining days.

So you can see that we are now dealing with a decimal in the Work
field. Hope this helps.

Whoops...just read the top of your post and noticed you said "duration"
was showing as a decimal. Same concept as I described above...but it
looks like you may be using Fixed Work task types. If I were to have
recorded 12hr, 12hr, and 11hr on day 1,2,3 respectively I would have
ended up with a duration of 8.63 days....using the same example above.
