Decimal points on an excel mail merge

I am having trouble with a decimal place or point showing up on a few fields
when I merge my excel info into the word document that is my letter. I never
had a problem when I was using Windows 97, but now that we have been upgraded
to XP it has been a bit more difficult. My excel spreadsheet has about 10
columns of which are address, name, zipcode, loan number, and a few others.
My problem comes up when I merge the excel fields into word and the decimal
place shows up after the zipcode or loan number. Example: Zipcode=22030.0
orLoan number shows up as 76123456.0, The .0 should not be there. I have
done everything I can possibly think of to fix it. Can someone please save
me? Th
