deep linking to onenote from firefox not working

I can use the 'Copy HyberLink to the Paragraph' to get a onenote link but I
noticed in firefox it does not take me to the onenote paragraph, only to
onenote app (already opened) like it does in IE. Is there a way to fix this.
I was hoping to to link to onenote details from my online cal/todo (toodledo)
software that I use in firefox.

For whatever reason, FF doesn't recognize the ONENOTE:// URI handler. I
just did a quick experiment and when I clicked on a ON link in an HTML file
in FF, I had to tell FF what program to use for those types of links. I
can at least confirm that what you're seeing can be repeated. Maybe
someone moreknowledgable with FF config can pipe in, since I'd always
thought that URI handlers were set by the OS.

thanks for verifying. I should say I am on winXP with the newest firefox. If
anyone knows of a way to fix through firefox or some other config, I'd
appreciate it.

Do the links work when accessed from another location e.g. Word?

File associations can be checked and modified via:
Windows Explorer; menu Tools-Folder Options...; File Types tab

I am running XP.
There are separate settings for Firefox URL and IE Shortcuts.
The different URL protocols have different browser icons (FF/IE) depending
on which browser has been defaulted to it.
There is a file type of URL:OneNote Protocol which for the Open action
invokes this application C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\Office12\ONENOTE.EXE
/hyperlink "%1"

While I do not know what internally is happening when a OneNote link is
clicked in an exteranl application, and then control (should) pass to
OneNote, I have found that often the solution to these problems is found in
the settings of File Types.

It may be worthwhile running menu Help-Office Diagnostics.

But to answer the immediate question: no I do not expect or by experience
believe that because a system can get a certain response by using IE that it
automatically follows that you would get the same response when using FF.
When you don't the issue can be related to security settings, add-ons,
configuration (e.g. File Type associations per above) etc.
