That is incorrect. If you have an Exchange account, it will always reply and forward using that account. If all are pop, then maybe what you're saying is correct.
In a perfect world, it would work like this:
All new messages sent from the default account, unless overridden by selecting a specific account at the time of the message's creation.
All replies and forwards would use the account they were received on, unless set otherwise in Options or overridden in each account.
Options - send all replies/forwards via default account (If this option is not selected, it will use the account the message was received on)
Account Settings - send all replies/forwards via [select account] (this will override the Options global settings)
So, global settings in Options, per account settings in each account and override, at message creation to use any account. A perfect world.
OK, someone from MSFT get on this. I need it yesterday and just because I have an Exchange server, it doesn't mean I want to use it to send all my mail. Consider SEC requirements for mail routing and you'll understand why.

Hard to say by the lack of detail in your post. Outlook will always use the
account the message was received with when replying or forwarding. New mails
will fall back to the default
An account selection can be made by using the Accounts button which is near
the Send button

Default account works for new mail but not for forward or reply.
Have 2 email accounts. One has same server for POP and SMTP - the other uses
a different SMTP. Default is the first - When I set up the second I used it
to forward an email and now all forwarded messages uses that account - not
the default. Glitch? or how can make the forward account manual selection?
