Default attendees

Does anyone know how I can stop myself appearing as an attendee in calendar
items?
Its annoying when I make a note of something simple like going to the shop
or picking the wife up on my palm and the next time I sync I've become an
attendee.
If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
