Where is the default folder and database for the bibliography in word 2008.

You'll find it in User/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Sources.xml - but Word
can't actually open the file as a document. It can be opened by the likes of
TextEdit, but there shouldn't be much need to do so...

The Citations button on the Formatting Palette offers a menu button in its
lower right corner. One of the listings is Citation Source Manager, by way
of which it is much simpler to accurately create, edit & delete entries
without having to work directly in XML.
