Default Calendar

Andrew

I have a calendar with all the holidays in it within my global file. Is there
a way of making MSP (2003) using that calendar by default on new projects. At
the moment 'none' is the default.

Hi Andrew ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The most satisfactory way is to use a template for every new project. This way you can control more than just the calendar. To get started, please see FAQ Item: 8. New Project Template. FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Andrew,

The none option sounds like you are referring to the Task
Information>Advanced>Task Calendars option. If you want to make your custom
calendar the default for new projects consider creating a new template file
that would have your custom calendar as its base calendar.

I did write an article years ago describing the benefits of what I called a
Company Standard Template, if you send me an email I can send you a copy.
Best way to get in touch with me would be by using the contact option on my
website.

Hello Andrew,

To add to Mike's excellent advice of creating a template with your calendar,
set the Project Calendar in Project > Project Information. There is no need
to set it at the task level which I am guessing is what you are seeing by
your reference to "None". If the task calendar is "None" it is using either
the Project calendar or the assigned resource's calendar.

I hope this helps.
