Default categories and groups

Is there a way, using default categories and groups, we can segment a
portfolio so that portfolio managers only their subset of the portfolio?

Thanks

No. You cannot limit access to projects in a Portfolio Analyzer view. Even
though you can deselect certain projects when you create the Portfolio
Analyzer view, anyone with access to the view can select those projects.
Sorry.

This is possible when viewing the portfolio in Project Web Access. If you're
referring to the Portfolio Analyzer, as Dale has assumed, then you can
accomplish this by controlling the content of multiple cubes and assigning
access to the cubes accordingly. This is not small task and requires some
finessing.

Gary and Dale,

I'm still struggling with the same thing. I need to configure project
server so that project managers can open their own projects read/write (in
PWA) but open projects on which they are team members as read only (in PWA).
This may sound familiar because I took this from one of your FAQ's. I made
the changes specified in the FAQ but still have the same problem - members of
the PM group are given read only access regardless of project ownership.

We are pursuing the effective rights tool but this will take too much time
for us to install to be useful in resolving this problem.

Do the permissions behave differently when using Server vs. PWA - that just
doesn't make sense so it has to be my understanding.

Also Gary, could you be more specific about the multiple cubes and how they
are used.

Thank you for the guidance!!

Gary,

You indicate that it is possible when viewing the portfolio in PWA. Did you
mean to indicate it was impossible??
