Default Chart templates

How do I get Excel to automatically bring up a default chart template which
contains all the features I want to have on every graph? -- e.g., I want a
white background, circles for points (instead of squares), red for the
default color of the circles, etc. etc. I can always change every chart
AFTER it has been automatically created with the standard Excel defaults,
but I would prefer Excel to do these things a priori, and save me the
trouble of always having to do it.

Make a chart like that, with every feature you want, and without every
feature you don't want. Select the chart, choose Chart Type from the
Chart menu, click on the Custom Types tab, then select User-Defined.
Click Add, and give it a name and description. After pressing Okay to
save these, click on the Save As Default Chart button, and OK your way out.
