Default date question

I have a FE/BE design with the BE residing in a network folder. The data
entry form in this DB has a hidden date field with default Now() and some
entries are being entered but do not default to NOW(). I set the default only
in the form and not the in the table.Is that needed to perform correctly?

I would have put the default in the field at table level.
