Have contact list of 500. When creating new email and "click here" to add recipient name, there is a drop down list of partial contact list. How is this partial drop down list determined? Is it possible to use a CATEGORY, e.g. Quicklist, as the default drop down? And if so, how is this set up?

Appreciate any suggestions. Hal

The small Address Book is just a shortcut to get to your Address Book. You
can select not to see this by clicking on the icon to the right of the Check
Names. If you just start typing Entourage will start giving you choices to
use. Entourage learns and creates the Most Recently Used list.

To me having the small Address Book just gets in my way.

Diane, thanks for the quick reply and pointers. This does clear up some of my questions. I tend to use this when forwarding emails. For me, having the list visible allows me to quickly highlight the desired recipients and then drag to the To/CC/BCC box, without having to type names, nor do I necessarily know who I will send to until I view the list. Creating a Group won't work in this case as each forwarded email may go to a unique series of recipients. I could work backwards by viewing the Quicklist category, highlighting recipients and then selecting "SEND MESSAGE TO" but would then need to transfer the content of the forwarded message to the new message which is ineffecient. So appears for now I will need to continue to cull my recipients from a larger displayed list. Again Diane, thanks for the input. Hal

I think you will find the MRU to be quicker than the drag and drop you are
using. Give Entourage a chance to learn your favorites.

Another tip is to use nicknames in Entourage. Whatever you enter in the
nickname is not seen by recipient. This is a quick way to find contacts that
have the same name.

My Bob
Big Bob
Work Bob
Cousin Bob

You get the drift.
