default effect for bullet points

Is there a way to have a default effect applied to new slides for bullet points? I want each bullet point to appear on click by default, but I can't figure out how to do it, and it's tiresome to apply it afterwards to every slide.

I'm afraid what you're asking isn't very clear :) By default Content
Placeholders are already formatted for bulleted lists so all you need do is
click in the placeholder & type your list. Each time you press the return
key the new paragraph is automatically bulleted.

If this isn't what you're looking for you'll need to be a bit more
descriptive of what is/isn't happening relative to your expectations.

Thanks for your response, Bob, and apologies for my lack of clarity.

What I'm looking for is the effect (Custom Animation/Entrance Effect on the Toolbox Palette) so that, in a presentation, a click of the Remote leads to the next bullet point.

I know how to apply that effect AFTER completing a slide, but how can I set it as a default, so that when I type my list and it's bulleted, I get an automatic effect for presentations of each bullet appearing when I click the remote? So I don't have to remember to apply the effect to every slide, and check them, and make sure they are starting On Click instead of With Previous?

Thanks
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

If I understand what you are attempting to do, I think you can
accomplish this by opening a new, blank presentation.

View > Master > Slide Master

Add the custom animation you like to the master slide. Then View >
Normal. Next, use File > Save As and change the format to PowerPoint
Template (.potx). The default place this will be saved is My Templates.

Then, when you open a new PowerPoint presentation from the Project
Gallery, use your template from My Templates.

The potential down side to Jim's suggestion is that *all* bulleted lists
will have the same formatting. Unless that's what you want I'd suggest that
you create a NEW layout master (you can just Duplicate one of the existing
layout masters) with the effects you want, give it an identifying name &
selectively apply it to the appropriate slides. You can create as many
variations as you wish & save them in the custom template Jim recommended.

.... Or customize a QuickStyle and apply it when desired. The original
posting requested how to make it the default, however.

Hi Jim -

Exactly how would you go about customizing a Quick Style to include
Animation Effects?

You can't. Sorry. I've got to stop posting when sleepy.
