default email addresses

In Outlook 2000, when I typed a contact name in the To
field, Outlook automatically chose the first email
address for that contact (e.g.- "email" rather
than "email-1" or "email-2."

In Outlook 2002, when I type the contact name, it is
underlined in wavy red-- indicating that there are
multiple addresses.

Is there any way of setting a default address for each
contact, or for all contacts?

No.
You were using the Windows Address Book before. The Outlook Address Book
does not operate this way.
Instead, use autcompletion or autoresolution to store a default address for
a name you type.
