Default font for new task

How can I set the default font for a new task? When I add a new task the
font is automatically size 7 and Bold. I want it to be size 8 and regular.

Thanks.

JTS,
Go to Format/Text Styles and set the font to your liking.

Thanks for the response.
I have already tried this and it did not work. After I insert a new task,
the empty cell shows the font size being 8 and regular. However, after I
type the name of the task and hit Enter, it changes to 7 Bold.

"Text Styles" seems to edit the font of the tasks already in the project,
not the new ones added.

Any other suggestions?

JTS,
Format Text Styles should set the font characteristics for all tasks in
the file. Are you sure you not using Format/Font which applies only to
the selected task(s)? Also, are you sure Format Text Styles is set to
apply to "All" tasks?

If Format Text Styles is not working here are some other suggestions:
1. Make sure you have the latest update installed for the version of
Project you are using.
2. Try running Help/Detect and Repair

If you have the latest updates and Detect and Repair makes no
difference, the file may be corrupt. Try the following:
3. Open a new blank file with the same Project Start Date as your file.
4. Go to Insert/Project and insert your file.
5. Select the insertion point of your file in the master and go to
Project/Task Information Advanced tab.
6. Uncheck the "Link to Project" box and hit "OK".

Let us know if any of the above work.

I was unable to try the detect and repair, since it was asking for the
install CD and our network team has it.
I did create a new file and imported my old information and everything seems
to work fine. In this new file, I did try changing the Text Styles for all
and see how it reacted when I added a new task. This new task followed the
rules I assigned. So my old file must have been corrupted, since it did not
do this.

Thanks for the help.

JTS,
Imagine that, sometimes my suggestions actually work :)

This is not working in Project 2007. It is annoying to change the font type
and size every time a new task is added. Format Text Styles changes only the
existing tasks. Any new task added inherits the default font size and looks
different from rest of the tasks.

Hello BP,

Sorry, but it works fine in my copy of Project 2007 with SP-1. What
task style(s) are you selecting when you choose Format > Text Styles?
You'll need to change multiple text styles to have it apply to all
tasks. To change nonsummary tasks you'll need to change:

Critical tasks
Noncritical tasks
Milestone tasks

Also, realize changes in Fonts change fonts in the active view. If
you change to another view, you'll have to change the Text Style again
in the new view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
