Default Graphical Indicator does not publish

Hi,

I have a numeric custom project field with graphical indicators. This field
that is set up to default to a value (0) from a lookup table. The indicator
does not display when I publish. The indicator in MS Project Professional
2007 displays fine by default.

If I explicitly select the default value in MS Project Pro and then publish,
the indicator display in PWA. Is this a bug?

It is a known issue. I think that it may be resolved in one of the service
packs. SP2 for example says it fixed the following issue:

"If Project Server contains a formula that has a graphical indicator, and
this graphical indicator contains a reference to another field, or the
graphical indicator contains a Date or Duration constant value like "10d" or
"5/1/08," the graphical indicator does not calculate."

I don't have time to dig further, but before SP1 the custom field formulas
on the server had many issues including the one you have described.

Make sure you have the latest service pack and cumulative update.

I have a similar problem and yet I am on SP2. My problem is as you describe:
It is an enterprise custom formula that references another custom field. The
result (a URL/hyperlink) is really long, so I am using a graphical indicator
to mske the record in Project Center look "prettier." It works great after an
initial publish - an icon that is a hyperlink. But when somebody else updates
the schedule and republishes, the indicator gets replaced with the long, ugly
URL. Sometimes if I republish it again via the web CAL it will fix; other
times it won't fix no matter who publishes, or how, or how often. It's a bit
unpredictable.

Any ideas? I know I am on SP2, but I don't yet have the August 2009 patches
in place.
