Default grid spacing

Hello. I would like all new Visio documents that I create to have their
default grid set to 'Fixed, 2mm' for each of the horizontal and vertical axes.

How can I do this? It's a PITA to have to make the change manually each
time I make a new document, and if I save a modified document as a template
it doesn't appear in the list of possible templates that you get when you
start up the application.

All help gratefully received...

The grid settings are stored in each individual template. You should not
make changes to the built-in templates, as they would be removed by normal
repair actions. But you can make changes to an existing template and save
it under a new name to accomplish your goal.

To make a saved template show up, you will want to place your custom
templates in a special folder, and then tell Visio how to find them using
File Paths. In Visio 2007, this is under Tools > Options > Advanced tab >
File Paths. Put the folder path
(drive:\foldera\folderb\...\templatesfolder\) in the space for Templates,
then close and restart Visio. A new group called (Other) will exist in the
Template categories, and you will find your custom templates there.

Or, you can just browse to the folder using File > New > New Drawing from
Template.
