Default groups created by Sharepoint

I've been try to stop STS from creating local groups on our Project
2002 Server. In looking at the local SAM database on the Project
Server, I stumbled onto something that I don't understand. We are
running Active Directory in Mixed Mode. I looked in the
'OWS_1157953144_admin' group created by the STS setup and noticed that
it shows the domain local 'Administrators' group as being a member.
How was a domain local group added to a member server local group with
AD running in Mixed Mode? Am I seeing things?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Mikey:

What do you mean by "the domain local 'Administrators' group?" The Local
Administrator's group is a local group. It needs to be there, and the STS
COM+ account must be a member of the Local Administrator's group in order
for Project Server to provision the physical sites in IIS.

I'm speaking of the local Administrators group within the Windows
domain that the server is a member of. If you look at the group it's
called Builtin\Administrators. That should be the domain local admin
group. Actually, either way, how is a local group being added to
another local group within a mixed mode domain?

Mikey, maybe I'm having a brain fart, but you're losing me. A global group
can be added to a local group, if that's what you're asking.

But if you look at the 'OWS_1157953144_admin' group, it's not a Global
group that's a member of it, but a local group. I knew you could put a
local in a local in Native AD mode, but not Mixed. I think I'm going
crazy Gary.....I just don't see how they got a local in a local in
Mixed mode.
