Default highlighting

I often type on inserted powerpoint slides provided by instructors who
love using different backgrounds. It's annoying that the only color
that isn't used at any time is red, so all of my notes are typed as
blocky red text. It's hard on the eyes and I don't want to change the
defaults all the time. Is there a way to set all newly typed text to
automatically be highlighted? The closest I have gotten is having a
tag set to ctrl+1, but I have to press that after starting/finishing
each text box note. This is tolerable, but it still slows me down.

If your additional notes are in a separate container, then you can simply
press Ctrl+A twice.

AFAICS the selection of the color used for your comments is selected by
*yoi* yourself.
Really no other choce but red?

When commenting images (like imported PPT-slides,) the text always is
written in a separate container.
Whatever default for the text color is selected is valid for the whole
container (unless text is marked and dirent settings are set for the
selection).

The same applies for the "background" of text typed. OneNote does not
have a feature for selecting a text's background, therefore
"Highlighting" has to be used.
The color for highlighting selected for the text after having started to
type will cover the whole text typed following, however.

No, there is no such feature.
One can set the default color of the text:
Tools > Options > Edit
but ther is no option for the "background".

IMO this method is not really workable!
It means to *tag* a note (a container) and this IMHO is not desirable.

AFAICS there are two workarounds:
(1)
- type 1 or 2 letters;
- mark the text typed;
- select all attributes for the text (color etc.);
- select the color of the "highlight" (background for the text typed);
- continue typing.
The text typed thereafter will have all atributes selected incl. the
highlight.

(2)
- just type type the text of your comment;
- when done, mark the container (clicking on the headline of the
container);
- click on the "highlight" icon on the Toolbar.
The whole of the text in the container will be highlighted with the
selected color.

I know about those two options, but I take notes at a really rapid
speed (off of video recordings played 2x) and any extra keystrokes are
a bother. If there is no other way to do it, I guess I will stick
with the ctrl + 1 approach where I have that tag set to "yellow
highlight, black text" This is the fastest and will have to do.
