Assuming that you have the spell checker for the alternate language
installed (Visio installed English, French and Spanish in an English
install by default), then you can enable and use the Windows Language
Settings task bar to make this much easier.
For Windows XP, there is an article about enabling the Language bar at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;306993
Once you have the Language bar enabled, you will see your current input
language (such as "EN"). You can use the quick key <ALT><SHIFT> to loop
through the available languages. On my system, for instance, I have
English and French enabled. So I make sure that Visio is not currently in
a dialog or typing action, and I press the quick key, which changes from EN
to FR, for instance. Then I can create new shapes and text boxes with the
French language setting applied. When I want to return to English, I press
<Alt><Shift> again, and see the FR change back to EN, and I can create
objects using English text language settings.
