Default Normal not staying

I change the page set up margins etc and set default. A message appears
saying that this will change all future documents based on Normal but when I
open Word again it is back to the original margins etc.

You proabably have done these instructions but it culd be a simple step that
has been missed that will fail the changes being saved.
If you still have problems come back with details, such as the version of
Word you are using, etc.

This indicates that the Normal template is not being saved. Certain add-ins
can prevent Normal from being saved (one version of the Acrobat PDFMaker
add-in in particular is notorious for this).

You can force a save of Normal.dot in Word 2003 and earlier: press Shift
while clicking on the File menu, which will cause it to display the command
Save All. Click on that and make sure that you save Normal.dot (you can
cancel Save As for any new, unsaved documents that you don't want to save).

In Word 2007, I believe the only way to accomplish this is to add the Save
All command to your QAT and use it.
